Firstly, Happy New Year! I haven’t been able to blog for a while but I wanted to take everyone back to Christmas! It was only a month ago and has to be one of my favourite times of the year. Everyone is so excited and winding down for the holidays and it’s usually when I get a few weeks off work and get to spend the holidays seeing my family and friends.
Last year we starting to slowly make our way back to office for work and luckily I was able to meet up with my colleagues for a Christmas party right before the next wave of Covid came through. To celebrate this I made myself a Christmas themed work shirt from Disney Mickey Mouse fabric I purchased at Spotlight.
You can tell that I grew up in the 90s with this Clueless inspired outfit including a high-waisted skirt with a flounce hem and short cropped jacket. I made this right before we all locked down from Covid so I haven’t had a chance to wear it anywhere yet.

I’ve been wanting to try out this BurdaStyle Cotton 101 dress for some time because of how amazing the sleeve detail is. This is my first test dress that I made with some scrap material I had left over from my latest Macaron dress.

I made this dress back in 2015 wanting to use sequin fabric for the first time to create an outfit to wear out in Las Vegas. However, even after a bit of alterations the top didn’t quite fit me the way I wanted it to. The sleeves were too far down on my shoulders and didn’t pull in the front or back enough, so it ended up a bit too gapey.

I stuck to my sewing goal and created a second jacket from my Top 5 Jackets to make this winter. This was another BurdaStyle jacket made with some beautiful brown checked wool fabric for the outside and a plain light brown wool for the lining, both from Spotlight. This is also the fabric combination I used to create my long Wool Parka Jacket.

This is the first time I’ve purchased wool and made a large warm, winter jacket! This wool jacket by BurdaStyle is the perfect Parka Jacket and it’s soooo warm. Almost too warm to wear for our Brisbane winters but hey, it might be great for travelling!
