I wanted to test out this pattern because of the shape and femininity to the style. However, the fabric choice that I picked wasn’t the right fit for the dress. I originally included the sleeve frills but decided that it was a little too over the top, so I ended up removing them.

Description: V or round-neck loose-fitting dress with waist gathers and frilled shoulders or neck line.
Pattern: Simplicity 2360
Fabric: Duck Cloth Cotton from Spotlight

I cut out a size 10 but it’s still quite large around the top, so it’s looks too big around my neck and shoulders. Especially with the type of material which sits too firmly. I probably won’t make this dress again, mainly because I don’t like waist gathered dresses on my figure but it was worth a shot.

The puggies always love a good photo shoot and certainly willing to steal the show. I thought it was worth sharing this dress because sometimes you don’t always have success with something you make but you can always learn from the experience.
I actually really love this fabric so if I purchase it again I might opt for McCalls 8030 dress shown below, which I’ve recently seen on Instagram.

I’ve spent the last two weeks sewing and 3 out of 5 dresses I absolutely love, while 2 dresses will most likely be cut up again to make something else. The best part about sewing is you can always salvage the fabric and repurpose it, so it’s never a complete loss.
Hope you’ve had some sewing successes and hopefully you’ll find this review helpful.
Happy Sewing! Erin xx
3 out of 5 is not bad.
I think you look cute in this one too. But understand you not liking it. We sometimes. … just don’t feel good about item. But… like you said, you can repurpose..
Happy sewing.
