You can probably assume from all the dresses I’ve made from this sewing pattern that it’s one of my absolute favourites. I’ve had this beautiful cotton sateen fabric sitting in my stash for quite some time and couldn’t decide what to do with it. Maybe because it’s so bright and colourful, creating it as a solid dress might have been too much. So splitting it up using the Colette Macaron using the white top was the perfect combination.
You can see see my floral Colette Macaron, my two toned Colette Macarons, as well as some other Macarons in my sewing archive. The dress contains front pockets, a pleated skirt, separate top panels and is a great fit! If I hadn’t convinced you to get this pattern, maybe I have now.
Description: Macaron is a fun-to-sew, flattering, and curvy dress. It includes a bodice fitted with darts, along with a contrasting top yoke, sleeves, and a narrow midriff band.
Pattern: Colette Macaron Pattern
Fabric: Cotton Sateen from Spotlight
This is the first time taking photos in my new house that I purchased in June. Now that it’s coming into summer I’ve been able to spend a lot more time outside renovating the backyard, working on getting fit and seeing more friends. That gave me a bit of a kick up the bum to create something fun and pretty that I can wear out for lunch or dinner.
It was a bit of a sad week for me though because I packed up all my work clothes and put them into a crate since I’m no longer wearing them. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be heading back into the city for work any time soon, having already worked from home since March. However, that gave me the focus to enjoy adding some more casual clothes to my wardrobe. I’ve since made a few dress tops, a casual shirt dress and have a number of cute casual outfits ready to sew! I can’t wait to share them with you!
Is anyone else in the same boat where you’re having to adjust to a new lifestyle and it’s changed your entire wardrobe?
Happy sewing and I hope you’re all keeping safe!
